about

“Honesty” is a reaction to forcing acceptance and forgiveness. While reading all kinds of psychological articles and self-help resources, Alex noticed a disturbing pressure on forgiveness and letting go of the situation responsible for causing pain. As if a simple decision is all it takes to shut the doors to one’s past. Every attempt to do so only caused more pain and frustration. “Honesty” is an attempt to accept that pain disappears and reappears constantly and uncontrollably. Musically “Honesty” is very experimental compared to other songs on the album. Electronic elements heavily dominate the soundscape, the whole song is in 4/4. It doesn’t fit the prog metal paradigm that well indeed. In the final part of the song however, everything changes. Synthesizers give way to live instruments. This change symbolizes the moment when all toxic attempts of acceptance are replaced by the acceptance of suffering.

lyrics

Come whatever new day brings

Where does the truth hide
Where do all the dots connect
She's gripping my ankle
Long lost friend I would lately neglect
Returning

Come whatever new day brings us

It's been a very long time
Since I've been twirling round the pit
Where every man's hope dies
I haven't noticed you're still here

Come whatever new day brings
It's been a very long time
Since I've been twirling round the pit
Come whatever new day brings
Where do all the dots connect
Where every man's hope dies
New day
I haven't noticed you're still here

There's a certain arrogance to your video
Where you talk and talk and talk about ambition
How you want your art to change the world
Only I know you had no vision

Can't concentrate and see where she sneaks
I'm alert, reserved, obsessed, paranoid and weak
As we sigh, blurry eyed and fail to proceed
My timid beast reveals her humanoid physique

I accept having you by my side
And yet I reject your guidance
In you'll stay
Till we part our ways
